Seungmin Chung - Piano
Seungmin Chung, Ph.D., from Seoul, has taught piano for 20 years. A Seoul National University graduate, she earned advanced degrees from Peabody Conservatory. Recognized in Korean competitions, she's performed globally and belongs to notable music teacher associations.
Seungmin Chung, Ph.D., a native of Seoul, Korea, has been teaching piano for almost twenty years.
Dr. Chung graduated from Seoul National University summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in piano performance, and received her master's and doctoral degrees from Peabody Conservatory where she served as the accompanist coordinator from 1999 to 2003. She has studied with Yonghi Moon, Julian Martin and Ellen Mack. She also received a full scholarship at Peabody Conservatory for four years.
While living in Korea, Dr. Chung received numerous piano competition awards, including first place in the Samik Competition, first place in the Chosun Times Competition, second and third places in the Ewha Kyunghyang Competition, third place in the Korean Chopin Competition, and first place in the Hankook Newspaper Music Competition. Dr. Chung received a scholarship from the Korean Embassy in 2003 and was awarded a Special Presentation by Artist International in New York City in 2007.
She has given many performances at the Peabody Conservatory, the University of Maryland in College Park, Goucher College, the Bowdoin Music Festival, the Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall as well as in London, Spain and Korea. Dr. Chung is currently a member of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association.
