Class of 2025 Cum Laude and Departmental Awards

Eighteen members of the Class of 2025 were inducted into the Cum Laude Society at Bryn Mawr during a ceremony in Centennial Hall on April 1, 2025.

The Cum Laude Society at Bryn Mawr was founded in 1984 and is based on the Phi Beta Kappa society that was established in 1906.  Inductees must not only display academic excellence, but also demonstrate integrity, honor and strong character through their dedication to all school commitments. Students are selected by a committee of faculty and administrators from the Middle and Upper Schools.

Seniors Sophie Bergles, Sophia Brookland, Zoë Dolland, Michelle Dong, Celeste Flores, Lucie Goldberg, Piper Higgins, Lily Kerr, Aanya Kheterpal, Kathryn Kondner, Lea Mattar, Riya Narasimhan, Lilly Rogers, Libby Speicher, Aashna Thadani, Ella Thomaskutty, Alkinoey Tsapatsis and Charlotte Webster were inducted in recognition of their academic achievements.

Derrica McCullers Lane ’99 is the Director, Special Initiatives with The Washington Post and was the guest speaker.  In her remarks, she encouraged students to reconsider what failure means, by pushing themselves not to play it safe.  She asked them, “What is truly possible if we do not let our fear of failure keep us from trying?” At Bryn Mawr, she reminded them, students have the space to try new things, regardless of the outcome.  “Your ability to think critically, to analyze complex information and communicate effectively will serve you well no matter what obstacle comes. The rigor and intellectual curiosity you’re developing will be among your greatest assets,” she said.
