Commencement 2021

On Friday, June 4, faculty and staff, family and friends (and cicadas) gathered in the Graduation Garden to send off the Class of 2021. Seventy four members of the graduating class were able to attend, while four celebrated virtually.  

Diane Nichols, senior director of institutional equity and inclusive practice, used her invocation speech to remind graduates to believe in themselves as they stride towards new adventures.  While graduation marks a transition in the lives of students, she urged them to take charge of their own stories, “the plot thickens as you evolve and grow, as you date to become who you believe you are meant to be,” she said, “Dare to be you in your most amazing and unique version possible.”

As seniors walked up to receive their Bryn Mawr diploma, Upper School Director Dr. Nicole Hood read remarks about each individual student, reflecting on their Upper School legacy and achievements. 

Head of School Sue Sadler looked back on the resilience of the Class of 2021 saying, “You are unprecedented in every sense of the word.  Unparalleled, unmatched, unrivaled.  We admire your courage, intelligence, compassion and creativity and know that with you in it, the world will be a better place.”

The Bryn Mawr School Scholarship was announced during the ceremony. Camryn Suntha was awarded the prize as the graduating senior with the highest academic record throughout her school years. Suntha will attend Brown University this fall.
