The Bryn Mawr community united for the new tradition of Daisy Day by showing their spirit and being of service to the school. Daisy Day, held on the last Friday of January, gives current students the opportunity to give back to the school and for alumnae, parents, grandparents and friends of the school to participate in a philanthropy day.
Decked in spirit gear and plenty of daisies, every student from Little through Upper School took part in a service project to give back to the Bryn Mawr community. Little and Lower School students decorated and wrote more than 300 cards that will be sent to alumnae and supporters. Older students wrote nearly 700 notes of gratitude to Bryn Mawr employees and donors, created Valentine’s cards to send to senior alumnae, and filled college care packages to ship to recent graduates. Teams of sixth, fifth and twelfth grade students got creative by making videos and birthday greetings that will be shared throughout the year. It was an all-community effort.
Beyond campus, the Bryn Mawr community near and far took part in a giving day. Parents and past parents, alumnae, grandparents, employees, trustees and friends joined together to raise more than $61,500 from 245 donors, surpassing the goal of 200 donors for the second year in a row.
Congratulations to the Class of 1995 for having the highest participation again with 32 donors, and to the Class of 2035 for raising the highest amount of dollars at $5,400.
“Daisy Day is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together to give back to Bryn Mawr, through their time and support of The Fund for Bryn Mawr, educate our students about the importance of philanthropy and celebrate all the things that make Bryn Mawr so exceptional,” said Cory Birdsall, director of advancement.
