MLK Day of Service: Bryn Mawr and Baltimore (Virtual)

On Monday, January 17, Bryn Mawr families are invited to celebrate King's vision of beloved community by participating in virtual events to mark the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service.
We'll begin with an opening address by Dr. Lawrence Brown, author of The Black Butterfly, whose book title refers to the shape of the hypersegregation and disparities of Baltimore City neighborhoods. Then, families will select a breakout room to learn more about how to support several Baltimore organizations, including Healthcare for the Homeless, Baltimore Hunger Project, Meals on Wheels, Living Classrooms Foundation and Downtown Baltimore Child Care.

The virtual event will begin at 9 a.m. Click here to join us!

The following service projects can be completed at home to make a direct impact on these Baltimore organizations. We encourage you to gather with your families and select from one (or all) of the following projects:

Meals on Wheels: Create Mugs of Love or draw a cheerful card for an older recipient
Healthcare for the Homeless: Make street survival kits for someone in need
Baltimore Hunger Project: Assemble snack bags for hungry kids
Living Classrooms: TBD
Downtown Baltimore Child Care: Donate adult or child masks to this early Headstart program

Bins will be set up in the carpool circles from January 18-21 to collect your donations.
