Class Day 2023

The Upper School community gathered in the Graduation Garden on Thursday, June 1, for Class Day to celebrate student accomplishments in the arts, athletics, service, citizenship, leadership and academics throughout the 2022-23 school year. Seniors Ella Moore and Kellsie Lewis delivered the traditional students speeches to their classmates. 

Anne Eggleston Broadus ’88, who is retiring this year after 28 years serving Bryn Mawr as an employee, served as this year’s Class Day speaker. Mrs. Broadus shared the story of how she has grown to understand the value of Bryn Mawr’s caryatid award, which is awarded each year on Class Day. She noted “how wonderful and rewarding and fulfilling it is to support others, to be part of another’s success, behind the scenes, to step aside from my own hopes and goals for a moment, and focus on those of someone else.”

 

As the Class of 2023 prepares to be the center of attention at Commencement, Mrs. Broadus encouraged the seniors to, “find opportunities to be someone’s caryatid…because believe it or not, as wonderful as it is to be in the spotlight, I have found it equally, if not more rewarding, to support others.”

 

At the conclusion of the ceremony, seniors were officially welcomed into the Alumnae Association. Congratulations to all of the award winners and to the Class of 2023!
