Spring Break Participation Policy
While we understand some travel plans were made in advance, athletes who are not able to participate in practices and games/matches over spring break will still be permitted to be on the team upon the submission of a negative COVID PCR test taken no earlier than March 19 if they are absent from athletics over spring break.
Athletes will be permitted to return to athletic practices and games after submission of the negative test results in the Magnus Health portal. Playing time may be lost or limited for a period of time upon return pending the coach’s decision and the team needs to have enough players to compete. Athletes who travel out of the country will still need to adhere to state and school guidelines regarding quarantine and testing before returning. Athletes who are present for practices and games/matches over spring break will be exempt from taking and submitting a Covid PCR test to return to school following spring break, as they will continually be on campus and screened daily through My Medbot.
IAAM Spring 2021 Policies
The IAAM is moving forward with a competitive league schedule this spring. While championships are planned for postseason play, the league will be revisiting the viability of championships in mid April. Unfortunately, it has been determined that track and field will not be able to host a championship this year. Specific communication from the IAAM regarding championships can be found below.
Additionally, the IAAM has set policies regarding mask use and the ability to compete. The language from the league is also found below. While Bryn Mawr reserves the right to change our stance on masks, we are currently requiring all athletes to wear a mask while participating in athletics regardless of an away team’s policy. When Bryn Mawr will host a home match/game, athletes from both schools will be required to wear a mask while participating. Should the visiting team not want to comply, the game will be considered a “no contest” for both teams. If Bryn Mawr travels to an away site, we will ask the opposing team to also wear a mask, however, if their school policy is not to require masks for athletes, they may deny our request. Bryn Mawr will still play the contest, but please note the opposing team at some schools will not be wearing a mask while competing, however, Bryn Mawr athletes will still be required to wear masks in those competitions. The exception to this is badminton, all matches will be played indoors and the league requires all participants to wear a mask in order to be present and participate.
Spectator Policies: Lacrosse and Softball Only
The IAAM spectator policy has allowed each school to determine their own spectator policy and we ask you to comply with each school’s policies. Once we know the spectator policy of each school, we will communicate that to you.
In order to adhere to social distancing guidelines, for lacrosse and softball games, Bryn Mawr will only be able to permit parents of Bryn Mawr athletes for that particular team to our home games. A signed agreement will be required to attain passes to attend those games.
To access that agreement and for more information, click here. We do not have home venues for badminton and track, so we will adhere to the hosts schools’ visitor policies.
Regarding golf spectators, because we are guests at the club, we will follow club guidelines regarding spectators. Our home course, Eagle’s Nest, will allow spectators on the course provided they wear masks, remain socially distanced and adhere to our standard golf specating rules. For away golf matches, we will adhere to the policy of those courses as well.
Waiver for Interscholastic Competition
In order to be permitted to play against opposing schools, athletes must submit a signed waiver. If the athlete submitted the waiver for WINTER sports, that waiver stands and you do not need to submit it again. The waiver should be signed by parent(s) and student and can be dropped off to the Athletics office emailed to Tina Veprek at
veprekc@brynmawrschool.org.
Access the waiver here.
Livestreaming of Home Games: Lacrosse Only
We are excited to have live streaming from the NFHS coming soon to the turf field. Once the system is installed on March 16, we are obligated to stream all of our lacrosse home games. In order to view any games on the turf once the system is installed, viewers will need to purchase a monthly or yearly subscription to view games, more information will be forthcoming following the installation. In order for your athlete to be permitted to play in home lacrosse games, please return a signed release to the Athletics office or email it to Tina Veprek at
veprekc@brynmawrschool.org.
The form can be found here.

IAAM League Statements
Masks:
All sideline personnel including coaches, athletic trainers, non-playing athletes, managers and scorers and timers will be required to wear masks.
Home Teams will determine the direction of requiring masks while playing or not requiring masks while playing.
Visiting Teams will have to make their own determination regarding Home Team opponents not following similar protocols. If a Visiting Team deems it untenable to compete against a team not operating under the same mask protocols, then the game will be considered a “No contest”.
Please note: All badminton athletes and personnel will continue, as we have this winter for indoor sports, and wear masks.
Play-offs and Championships:
Despite passing a motion in May 2020 to reduce the number of teams qualifying for the playoffs, due to the unique nature of the past twelve months, the IAAM will welcome all teams into the Spring Season play-offs.
Teams will be seeded if at least 50% of their league competitions are completed. Those teams unable to secure a minimum of 50% completion will be randomly seeded during the tournament draw.
The Board of Governors reserves the right to delay decisions on play-offs and championships as information on health and safety measures become more apparent and available into the month of April. The Board of Governors will meet on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 to determine updated safety protocols for play-offs and championships.
Spectators:
Schools will require all spectators to wear masks and social distance.
Schools will comply with local jurisdictional policies on indoor and outdoor gatherings which includes all aspects of social distancing and mandatory wearing of masks.
Once compliant under their local jurisdiction, schools will have the autonomy to create their own policies on spectators, based on facility composition, gymnasium space, field space, stadium seating and sideline accommodations.
Schools will be asked to submit their policy on spectators prior to March 5, 2021, allowing all schools to prepare accordingly.
If you have questions on any of the above information, please contact the Athletics Office or Tina Veprek at
veprekc@brynmawrschool.org.
