Winter Spirit Day

Winter Spirit Day 2017 was so much fun! The highlight was the annual Faculty-Student Basketball Game, which the faculty won, 12-7. Thanks to all of our brave student and faculty volunteers who played! Congrats also to the junior class, who won the halftime three-point contest. We are Mawrtians all!

K-5 Winter Concerts

On the last day before winter break, Lower School students had a great time showing off what they have been learning in their music and language classes. Congratulations to all of the girls on a great performance!

Winter Convocation

Every year, the Upper School Arts Council plans and performs Winter Convocation, a fun, festive event that features performing arts groups in the Middle and Upper Schools. This year's convocation told the story of the attempted Martian invasion led by Head of School Sue Sadler; fortunately, Arts Council was able to foil the plot!

Middle and Upper School Winter Concerts

Each year, the Middle and Upper School Winter Concerts give students a chance to show off their musical skills. The Middle School concert featured groups Cantemus, Exclamemus, Sumus Deae, Fila Lyrae and Cantus Lyrae, while the Upper School concert featured the combined Bryn Mawr/Gilman orchestra, as well as handbell choir Ad Solem, the Upper School Wind Ensemble and singing groups Camerata and Dayseye.

In the Classroom

Even with the shortened month, a lot happened at Bryn Mawr in December! From the kindergartners' gingerbread women to the first grade "Nutcracker" puppet performance to decorating for Snow Ball in the Upper School, students had fun this month. Heavy Metal, one of the Upper School's robotics teams, won the Motivate Award at their most recent competition; in Upper School language classes students completed creative projects and learned an Argentinian dance. Middle Schoolers were busy with projects like glazing ceramic bowls for the annual Empty Bowls dinner. We are ready for a well-deserved Winter Break!
