It sure is quiet around here today. Students are gone, the chairs and stage from graduation are being dismantled and put away, and faculty are cleaning out classrooms following our final meetings. After the hustle and bustle of the final few weeks of school, I now have a moment to reflect on our school year together. And, what a year it was.
Together, we have re-launched our fun and spirited K-12 House System, opened up Personalized Pathways in the Upper School, expanded after school programming, cheered on our talented athletes and artists, and celebrated our best admissions season in the last ten years. Most importantly, we spent the year shouting the love for our classmates and colleagues, and for Bryn Mawr. It’s a year I will always, always remember. Thank you for being a part of it.
We sent off the Class of 2018 with a beautiful ceremony in the Graduation Garden on Tuesday. I encourage you to
watch the recording, especially to hear a wonderful address by Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden. As I told the graduates that morning, their leadership and commitment to being a joyful and united presence on this campus was remarkable this year. Smart, courageous and kind, they’ve led with humor and empathy, insight and wisdom far beyond their years. They have helped me understand, as a first-year head, what it really means to be a Bryn Mawr girl.
This summer, I will be traveling with a group of Bryn Mawr girls on one of our international programs to Thailand and Cambodia, along with some faculty and staff colleagues. (You can follow us on
Twitter @BMSAbroad if you’d like to vicariously enjoy our adventures!) Whether you are traveling or staying here at home, I wish you and your families a wonderful and restful summer.
Cheers,
