We love traditions at Bryn Mawr, as they tie us to our 130-year history, and there are several ritual steps that happen on our first day. New faculty and students are introduced, we hear Dayseye sing “Jerusalem,” and we toll our campus bell to “ring in” the opening day. Faculty in Action


Dean of Faculty and Upper School math teacher Elaine Swyryn took a chance when, as she was finishing her senior year at Boston College, she enrolled in a master's program in teaching at Harvard University. "I hadn’t done any education courses to test the waters beforehand," Swyryn says. "But two weeks into my master’s program I knew it was the right thing for me."
